The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is appealing to donors in Tipperary to support clinics in Ballykisteen Great National Hotel today and tomorrow and in Cappawhite Community Centre on November 28th.
Demand for blood from Irish hospitals is rising month on month according to the service with October showing an 8% increase in demand over the corresponding period last year.
10,782 units of blood were required by Irish hospitals last month compared to 9,987 units required in October 2023.
The IBTS has an immediate need for blood donors, both old and new, to attend upcoming Clinics. The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) issued a pre-amber alert to Irish hospitals urging them to conserve blood stocks last month. Escalation to a full AMBER-Alert could impact on scheduled hospital procedures which require blood product support.
The clinics in Ballykisteen offer appointment times between 4.50pm and 8.10pm tonight and tomorrow evening. Blood donation appointments for the same time frame are available for the Cappawhite clinic on Thursday November 28th. Donors are asked to call 1 800 222 111 for an appointment.
