Seven councillors have been nominated to serve as members of the new Community Safety Partnership for County Tipperary.

In addition, representatives from An Garda Siochana and state agencies such as TUSLA and the HSE, residents and business groups will also provide members.  The councillors involved are Cllr Andy Moloney and Cllr Declan Burgess from the Tipperary Cahir Municipal District(MD), Cllr Richie Molloy from Clonmel, Cllr Michael Brennan and Cllr Imelda Goldsboro from the Carrick MD and Cllr Shane Lee from the Thurles Templemore MD.

The new structure will replace the former Joint Policing Committee(JPC) and will have a wider range of membership. The JPC membership included all 5 Tipperary TDs and 15 nominated councillors. The Community Safety partnership can be more proactive in providing community safety and can create sub groups to work on specific issues of concern or in certain areas of the county. The Community Safety Partnership can also apply for funding to deliver measures it believes will address public safety.   The committee Chair is a voluntary position and former Tipperary TD and Cllr Noel Coonan from Templemore was appointed to chair the Tipperary Community Safety Partnership by the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee. The incoming Tipperary Community Safety Partnership is not expected to hold it’s first meeting until early 2025.
