Second Sinn Féin General Election Candidate Announced In North Tipperary

As the deadline approaches for candidate nomination for the General Election Sinn Fein have announced that Evan Barry will contest the general election in North Tipperary as a second candidate.   He will run alongside Dan Harty in the North Tipp constituency which includes 13 LEAs in North West Kilkenny including Urlingford, Tullaroan, Freshford, and Johnstown. Evan Barry, from Kilkenny, currently works in Leinster House as a policy adviser and constituent advocate on behalf of Sinn Fein.

Fianna Fáil are also running two candidates in the constituency which will return 3 TDs. Sitting TDs Michael Lowry(Regional Independent) and Alan Kelly(Labour) are standing but current Fianna Fáil TD Jackie Cahill will not be a candidate due to health advice. There are 12 candidates declared to date in North Tipperary. The deadline for nominations is noon tomorrow and a candidate can withdraw up until noon on Monday. Voting for the General Election is set for Friday November 29th.

The other candidates are Cllr Jim Ryan(Independent), Cllr Michael Smith(Fianna Fáil), Cllr Ryan O’Meara(Fianna Fáil), Cllr Phil Bugler(Fine Gael), Francis O’Toole(Aontu), Diana O’Dwyer(People Before Profit), Peter Madden(National Alliance), Iva Pocock(The Green Party).
