Residents in Glen Court, Emly can look forward to the completion of the Taking in Charge of their estate by Tipperary County Council at some stage in 2025. The application was first submitted in 2015 and has faced delays due to Council inaction and issues with the wastewater and water supply network in the estate of approximately 70 houses.
Tipperary County Council has now advertised their intention to take the estate in charge which will mean that the Council will take over responsibility for the maintenance of the roads, footpaths and public lighting in the estate while Uisce Eireann will be responsible for the waste water, sewage and water supply issues. The situation is complicated by the fact that a row of houses closest to the R515 road have never been occupied and some of the piping for water and waste passes underneath these homes.
Cllr Anne Marie Ryan and Cllr Mary Hanna Hourigan have supported the residents in their quest to have the estate taken in charge and to have the vacant houses brought into use. The map showing the details of the Glen Court Estate is published on the Council website and is also available to view in the Council offices on Rosanna Road, Tipperary town. Submissions on the proposed taking in charge can be made up to noon on Monday January 6th. The Tipperary Cahir Cashel Councillors will then be asked to formally approve the Taking in Charge following consideration of any submissions received.
Gillian Moore, a spokesperson for the Glen Court Residents Association says the residents are delighted with the progress adding that it has been a long time coming. “After so many challenging years of progressing the application the residents would like that the Taking In Charge Process would be expeditiously managed and brought to a conclusion in early course.” Ms Moore is thanking the two Councillors for their hard work and support for the residents over the years together with Tipperary Council staff.
