Over 160 businesses in county Tipperary have signed up to accept the Love Tipperary Gift Card.
The card is a new initiative of the County Tipperary Chamber in collaboration with the Shop Local Unit of Tipperary County Council. The aim is to help keep money in the local economy.
Stores will not have to pay any transaction fees for the first year and the Chamber hopes to be able to continue in the future with similar terms and conditions.
The card is intended to be used as a gift item or as a means of giving staff a bonus with a tax benefit for both employer and employee.
All of the Tesco, Lidl and SuperValu stores in the county have also signed up to accept the card.
Cards can be purchased on the County Tipperary Chamber website at countytipperarychamber.com and cards will be in circulation from November 22nd.
In the coming weeks the cards will also be available to purchase at the Chamber Office in Clonmel, in the Clonmel and Nenagh Credit Union Offices and selected retail outlets. A digital card option is also available.
