The number of candidates standing for election in county Tipperary continues to increase as the close of nominations approaches at noon on Saturday.
To date 11 eleven candidates are declared in South Tipperary representing both Independent or Non Party and several party candidates representing Sinn Fein, The Green Party, Aontu, Labour, Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, Independent Ireland, the Workers and Unemployed Action Group and The National Party.
In North Tipperary there are 11 candidates representing Independent or No Party Affiliation and candidates for Fianna Fáil, The Green party, Sinn Fein, Labour, National Alliance, Fine Gael, People Before Profit and Aontu.Voting has been set for November 29th and North and South Tipperary will each elect 3 TDs to the next Dáil. Tipperary is getting an extra TD due to population increase as measured in the 2022 Census – nationally an 14 extra TDs are being elected bringing the total in the Dáil to 174. Outgoing Ceann Comhairle Sean O’Fearghail is automatically returned and does not have to contest the election.
