The annual allocation of funding to animal welfare Charites was released yesterday by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue. Five Tipperary based Animal Welfare organisations are allocated funds – Great Hounds in Need in Kilcash is allocated €9,000, Mo Chara Animal Rescue Thurles €34,500, PAWS in Mullinahone secured €76,475, Roscrea SPCA €37,650 and The Haven Rescue in Templemore €19,050.
Nationally funding of €6 million is being shared by 101 animal welfare charities nationwide.
The Minister says in recognition that 2024 has again been a very challenging year for charities involved in the rescue and rehabilitation of animals, the highest ever allocation is being distributed this year with a focus on rewarding those organisations that have been successful in rehoming, providing educational initiatives, and promoting awareness of responsible pet ownership during 2024.
In advance of the Christmas season, Minister McConalogue is reminding the public that pet ownership is a long-time commitment with financial and lifestyle commitments that need to be considered before taking on a pet.
