Green Party General Election candidate Iva Pocock has said that it is time to climate-proof County Tipperary. Ms Pocock is running in North Tipperary and says Ireland needs to
Act to prevent catastrophic climate chaos which will includes preparing for flooding, drought and extreme weather events as seen recently in Valencia, Spain.
Ms Pocock says “The Greens in Government have made a vital start on climate action by massively increasing public transport, reducing fares, rolling out home retrofitting and kick-start a solar rooftop and offshore wind revolution.”
Locally Ms Pocock want to see a ramp up in home retrofitting with more grants and promotion of the low cost home energy upgrade loans, better supports for EVs, the rollout of the Nenagh to Thurles to Cashel bus service and improvements in Rail services in the county. The Green party candidate is also calling for more support for farmers and sports clubs to be able to operate in a climate friendly fashion.
