Voters Advised To Ensure Correct Voting Registration For Upcoming General Election

Voters intending to vote in the upcoming election are advised to ensure they are registered and that their details are correct.  If, the General election is called on November 7th as expected, with polling on November 29th  the closing date for voter registrations would be 12th November.

For Postal Voters, the timeline is even shorter at the latest date for applications for a Dáil election is 2 days after the dissolution of the Dáil – expected on Thursday or Friday of this week.  Voter can update their details on the website checktheregister.ie

South Tipperary will elect a total of 3 TDs to the next Dáil. The results of Census 2022 revealed that the county required an additional TD due to population increase and to deliver the county is now divided into North and South for Dáil elections with each constituency to return 3 candidates.

A total of 10 candidates have declared their intention to run in South Tipperary to date – John McGrath (The National Party), John O’Heney(Independent), Nadaline Webster(Independent Ireland Party),  Cllr Michael Brennan(Labour Party), Myriam Madigan(The Green Party), Cllr Imelda Goldsboro(Fianna Fáil Party), Cllr Michael Murphy(Fine Gael Party), Seamus Healy(Workers and Unemployed Action Group)and sitting TDs Mattie McGrath(Rural Independent Party) and Martin Browne(Sinn Fein). 

Almost 3,000 electors based in the Cashel-Tipperary LEA  in  Curraheen, Glencar, Cappagh, Donohill, Clonoulty West and Clonoulty East will be voting in the North Tipperary constituency while approximately 215 voters in Ballymoreen, near Littleton(Curraheen,Parkstown and Liskeveen) will vote in South Tipperary according to the new constituency boundary.
