Standing Ovation For St Ailbe’s School’s Grease Performance

12

Students from St Ailbe’s school in Tipperary town were given a standing ovation at the end of their performance of “Grease” last night. The show will have one final performance tonight at 7.30pm in the Michael Quirke PE Hall.

The students also delivered 3 matinee performances to select invited audiences earlier this week.

A terrific cast with wonderful costumes and sets took the audience back to the setting of Rydell High School – there were many wonderful performances – too many to names!

The show has a feel good factor with most of the adults in the audience being very familiar with the hit songs such as “Summer Lovin”, “Grease Lightnin” and “You’re the one that I want.”

Other classic songs on the night included “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “Beauty School Dropout”.

The production was very slick with top class lighting and sound effects. The production team also produced a terrific programme with generous support evident from the local business community.

School Principal Ruaidhri Devitt addressed the audience and thanked the students, their parents, school staff  and  the Parents Council for their assistance – teas and coffees were available at the intermission along with the students offering a tuck shop in the main hall.

A Door Admission prize along with a well-run raffle on the night helped to create a very enjoyable night and contribute to the costs of producing the show featuring the talents of students from Transition year and fifth year.

Don’t miss it tonight if you can attend the final performance starting at 7.30pm.
