Last Day For Retail Postal Services At Tipp Town Post Office On Davis Street Ahead Of New Location

58

Retail postal services for items such as stamps, TV licenses, dog licenses and payments from the Department of Social Protection will cease at Tipperary town Post Office on Davis Street/Grattan Street at 4pm this afternoon (Friday October 25th).

These services are being transferred to a new post office that will be run by a private post master and located at SuperValu at Kickham Place/Link Road Tipperary town.

The new post office will open at 11am on Tuesday October 29th. There is no retail post office service on Saturday morning October 26th.

The new Post Office at SuperValu will be staffed by new staff as all of the current retail office staff are remaining with An Post.

Those needing to collect post or return parcels etc can continue to avail of this service at the existing address on Davis Street/Grattan Street – this office will not be able to sell stamps, if required, for any returns.

An Post is to continue to distribute post from the facility on Davis Street/Grattan Street and says they are hoping to find a best future use for the retail portion of the building. Angus Lafferty, Public Affairs Manager for An Post says the company has “had engagement with a number of stakeholders and also are very much open to suggestions and proposals.”

The facility has been in operation since July 1980 when the Post Office moved from Main Street, Tipperary town.
