Policing Resource Issues For Clare & Tipperary Garda Division To Be Raised In The Dáil

4

The issue of adequate policing resources for the Clare and Tipperary Garda Division is to be raised in the Dáil this morning. Tipperary TD  Alan Kelly is to raise the matter under the Topical Issues selected by the Ceann Comhairle for discussion shortly after 9am.

Tipperary and Clare now form one division with the Chief Superintendent based in Ennis. Earlier this week it emerged that the Garda station in Templemore is now effectively closed. The Gardai based in the Garda College in Templemore do not engage in active policing of the area.  TDs have previously raised concerns about the lack of Garda in South Tipperary to provide adequate cover at all times.

The Minister for Justice is to respond to Deputy Kelly this morning and in total 12 minutes of Dáil time is allocated for the matter.
