Two villages in south Tipperary have been profiled in a new two-part film by Tipperary Cultural Films.
A portrait of Bansha and Emly villages has been compiled by the trio of Dr Des Marnane (research, script & narration), Caleb Barrett(Videographer/Post Production) and Mary Alice O’Connor-Long(Producer). The films will be screened in each village in the coming weeks starting in Bansha on Sunday October 27th at 4pm at Templeneiry Church.
The Bansha film runs for 45 minutes depicting historical aspects of the village of Bansha – the film is not intended as a definitive history of Bansha.
The film will also be available to view on Tipperary Cultural Films YouTube channel following the October 27th premiere. The screening in Bansha, including light refreshments, will be hosted by Aherlow Fáilte Society and admission is free. A raffle will be held on the day with the proceeds being shared with local cancer care charities.
The trio have a number of films(6) to their credit already and acknowledge the support of Creative Ireland/Tipperary County Council who have been financially supportive of their projects through the office of Roisin O’Grady Tipperary Heritage Officer and Tipperary Town Revitalisation manager Michael Begley. Tipperary Cultural films are also grateful to all who gave access to their properties for filming or otherwise assisted the production by providing photographs or other information. Seamus Mc Carthy acted as historical guide to the project which includes footage from Bansha Castle, Bansha House and Lismacue House.
