Water Supply Expected to Return At 6pm In South Tipperary Following Further Setback

Water Supply to Uisce Eireann Customers in South Tipperary has suffered a further setback.

Water supply was restored to customers on the Ardfinnan Water Supply scheme on Thursday evening following an interruption to the treatment plant earlier that day.

Reservoir levels continue to recover following this interruption which will increase the pressure of the supply for customers.

However, late Thursday night a trunk watermains burst resulting in a loss of supply to Giantsgrave, Ratheevin, New Chapel, Condon’s Cross, Nichlastown and the surrounding areas.

Repair crews are on site undertaking the repair with water supply expected to return for all customers by approximately 6pm today.

Following repair works, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Uisce Eireann says following the previous day’s treatment plant interruption and the water main burst last evening, water levels at the reservoirs are low.

Customers whose supply has returned are being asked to be mindful of their usage, to allow supply to catch up with demand and enable reservoirs to fully replenish.

The Uisce Eireann Customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.  Uisce Éireann has also launched a free text service, providing real-time updates for local issues.
