A Thurles woman is urging the public to support the Irish Cancer Society’s Fundraising efforts especially in respect of breast cancer during the month of October.

Margaret Molumby is supporting the Irish Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign and encouraging the public to host a Big Pink Breakfast to help fund vital breast cancer support services and life-changing breast cancer research projects.

Ms Molumby, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She got the all clear in 2009, but then received a metastatic diagnosis in 2017 as the cancer had spread. Mother-of-four Margaret is now living with cancer and has been taking oral chemotherapy tablets since 2017, and maintains a very positive outlook.

Ms Molumby says the Big Pink Breakfast campaign is important as a huge amount of the funding for the Irish Cancer Society’s breast cancer support services and breast cancer research projects comes from donations made by the public.

The Irish Cancer Society, is highlighting the importance of self-examination for women of all ages and encourages women to be aware of any changes in their breasts and have any changes checked by their doctor.  The Irish Cancer Society’s Support Line for any concerns is  available by calling Freephone 1800 200 700 with additional information available on the website  www.cancer.ie.
