Tipperary Primary Care Centre, Rosanna Road, is to host an event next Monday as part of National Breastfeeding Week(October 1st to 7th).
The final day of the annual event will see a coffee morning hosted by Laura Carey, Specialist Public Health Nurse in Lactation. The event will be held in the first floor meeting room between 10.30am and noon.
The HSE is working to promote Breastfeeding as it is hugely beneficial for both babies and mothers. According to its 2023 data, 64% of babies were breastfed from birth, up significantly from 55% in 2017.
Ms Carey attends the Primary Care Centre twice a month and says parents can find information about a range of Breastfeeding support Clinics across South Tipperary by visiting the mychild.ie website.
There are now over 32 breastfeeding support groups both in person and online for parents across the south east region. The Cuidiu organisation hosts a support group in Tipperary town Library on the 2nd Monday of every month at 11am. Visit www.cuidiu.ie for more information.
