Browne Accuses Government Of Giving Up On Improving Health and Housing Delivery

Sinn Féin TD for Tipperary Martin Browne is accusing the Government of giving up on improving the health service or housing delivery.

Deputy Browne adds that “it beggars belief that there has been no additional funding to increase housing output when the state has a surplus of €24bn.”

Commenting on yesterday’s Budget the TD says the government is incapable of delivering real change and unable to deliver value for money.

The TD also says the government has failed to reform the Childcare system to meet the needs of families.

The TD is drawing attention to Sinn Fein’s plan to deliver 300,000 public and private homes over five years – homes that are secure and affordable and to provide childcare at a daily cost of €10 per child.

The TD says Sinn Fein would have abolished the Universal Social Charge on all of the first €45,000 of income – the government did reduce the top rate from 4 to 3% and the 2% USC ceiling band has now been increased from €20,484 to €27,382.

Deputy Browne says Sinn Fein will abolish the means test for the Carers Allowance if elected to Government.
