Irish Women’s Rugby XV Defeat New Zealand In A Major Tournament In Canada

Tipperary’s Amee Leigh Murphy Crowe and Fethard’s Dorothy Wall were part of the Irish Women’s Rugby XV that defeated New Zealand in a major tournament in Canada. Ireland defeated the reigning World Champions on a score line of Ireland 29 New Zealand 27.  Erin King scored her second try to level the scores in the last minute, outside-half Dannah O’Brien was successful with the pressure conversion.

New Zealand had three tries ruled out by the TMO, but Ireland remained resolute to run in five tries in total. 

Ireland face hosts Canada in their next game on Saturday and play their final game against the USA  on Friday week. 

Meanwhile in camogie news the County Tipperary FBD Insurance Senior Camogie semi-finals will see Clonoulty Rossmore take on Drom and Inch while the second semi final will see Cashel King Cormacs take on Thurles Sarsfields.The intermediate final will see Moycarkey Borris take on Moneygall. The games will be played on the weekend of October 12th and details of venues and times will be finalised at tonight’s camogie fixtures committee meeting.
