Trip To Tipp Cycle Fundraising Takes Place This Sunday

The 28th Annual Trip to Tipp Cycle Fundraising event in aid of Vision Ireland will take place on Sunday September 29th.

Participants have the option of taking part in a 5K walk or a 10K run or Cycle or a 60km Cycle known as the Tour of Tipperary or the 120km Cycle that extends from Thurles to the Glen of Aherlow.

The event will begin from the Sr. Ursula Hall at the Ursuline School on the Templemore Road in Thurles.

Registration begins from 9.30am or can be completed in advance on cyclingireland.ie.

The 120km cycle will depart at 9.30am and travel via Thurles, Holycross, Clonoulty, Ballagh, Dundrum, Knockavilla, Tipperary town, the Glen of Aherlow, Bansha, Thomastown, Cashel, Dualla, Ballynonty, Two Mile Borris and returning to Thurles.

The 60km cycle departs at 10am and will travel via Holycross, Clonoulty, Ballagh, Dundrum, Knockavilla, Cashel and return to Thurles via the old Dublin/Cork Road.

The 5km and 10km events are on routes around Thurles and will depart from 11am onwards. Ireland’s Paralympic cyclist Damien Vereker will take part on a tandem with upwards of 20 tandem bicycles expected to take part.

Helmets are compulsory for cyclists.

The event is dedicated to the memory of the late Lorraine Shanahan who died on November 28th 2015.
