Number of People In Emergency Accommodation Continues To Increase

The number of people accommodated in Emergency Accommodation because they are homeless has increased again in August.

The Department of Housing today released the latest national homeless figures which includes a big increase in County Tipperary.

The number of people homeless in county Tipperary is now reported to be 61 – a 30% increase compared to the 47 people in emergency accommodation in July.

Nationally the total number of people that are homeless is 14,486 an increase of 57 persons compared to the July total. The figure is made up of 10,067 adults and 4,419 children both higher than July by 39 and 18 persons respectively.

County Limerick also reports an increase in homelessness with 447 people in emergency accommodation compared to 442 in July.
