The recently renovated Garda Station in Cashel is expected to reopen by early November according to Cllr Liam Browne. Councillors in the MD met with Local Garda officers yesterday to review issues of public safety in the district.
Cllr Browne describes the meeting as “a very frank and open meeting, with many local concerns raised” – these will be responded to in the coming weeks and months.
Cashel Garda Station located at Hogan Square will be staffed 24 hours a day and will be open to the public from 9-5, Monday to Friday once it re-opens.
Cllr Browne describes this as a significant extension of hours from before the station closed for renovations. At present An Garda Siochana operate from a temporary public office located on Friar Street, Cashel.
In addition the revamped Garda station on Hogan Square Cashel will be used as a training centre for young Gardaí when they are going through their “on the job” training period.
This is expected to deliver an increase in “on the street” patrolling, which will increase Garda visibility in the town.
