Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District is meeting today with a very busy agenda that includes an update from the Environment and Climate Action section of the Council and the LAWPRO office – a national agency that is run jointly by Tipperary and Kilkenny County Councils to work towards improving water quality in streams, rivers and lakes.
The council is also to decide on the proposed Walkway between Solohead and Limerick Junction Train Station, the Racecourse and the N24 road. Residents in Limerick Junction are opposed to the portion of the pathway that is proposed for behind their houses. It is understood that this portion of the project will be removed from the final design at today’s meeting.
In addition the meeting will consider the allocation of funds under the Roads Programme for the next 3 years and the allocation of funds under the Painting Enhancement Scheme for Dundrum village. Two nominees are to be appointed to the Tipperary town Social Inclusion sub group and the Tipperary town Social Inclusion Network.
The eleven councillors will also consider a total of 12 twelve motions in respect of a range of issues.
Cllr Roger Kennedy is calling for a yellow box at the junction on Ladyswell Street and Francis Row in Cashel and a plebiscite for the residents of William Street, Cashel to change the name back to its original name Lana Hackeid or Hacketts Lane, in addition Cllr Kennedy is seeking better drainage on the road into Limerick Junction train station.
Cllr. John Crosse proposes a short motion that reads “Due to the inappropriate behaviour of a small group of people near Kickham Plaza, it has been requested that the benches not be reinstalled at the same public location.”
There are also calls from Cllr Liam Browne for the erection of suitable posts to stop vehicles parking on the pathway to St Cormac’s Cemetery and that inspection and repair works if deemed necessary are completed in respect of the bridge in Ardmayle including painting work on the bridge to make it more visible to drivers.
Cllr Browne is also requesting CCTV monitoring for safety and security at Cashel Playground, Friar Street, Cashel and at the municipal car park on Friar Street, Cashel.
Cllr. Declan Burgess wants a review of pedestrian and traffic safety at An Úllord estate in Boherlahan and the installation of a pedestrian crossing connecting An Úllord estate to St Joseph’s avenue.
There are three motions in the name of Cllr John O’Heney – the first calls on the Council to relinquish any interest in purchasing and developing a Roads Depot in Hollyford Village and instead asks that the council expand and develop the depot that already exists in the area.
The second motion calls on the council to provide a Letter of Support to the Conference of St Francis, St Vincent De Paul in Hollyford, to allow them access funding to deliver social housing in Hollyford – this is on the site currently for sale that the Council Roads department wants to purchase.
The third motion calls on the council to engage with Iarnród Eireann and the Department of Transport to request for an earlier train service from Tipperary town station that serves the Clonmel and Waterford regions.
The final motion is in the names of Cllr. Marie Murphy & Cllr. Micheal Anglim and calls on the council to install ramps or ‘speed cushions’ on the approach to St. Mary’s National School in Clogheen.
The meeting at the council office on Rosanna road, Tipperary town will begin at 11am.
