Calls For Safety Measures In Knockanrawley Area During Peak Times Amid Traffic Congestion

A resident living in Pearse Park is calling for safety measures to be put in place during peak times as major road works on N74 causes traffic congestion.

Works on installing underground piping for water, sewage, telecoms and electricity is ongoing with a one way system in place since the summer with traffic from Cashel been redirected to Knockanrawley road.

Julie Gallagher says traffic noise, difficulty getting out of housing estates and traffic congestion continued to be an issue for those living in the Knockanrawley area.

Ms Gallagher says there was no consultation at the beginning of the plan and there’s been no communication with residents about how things are going since the one way system was put in place.

The local resident is looking for the council to provide a person who could  manage the traffic particularly during the morning school rush.

By the end of October it is hoped to switch to the other side of the N74 on the section between the Bansha Road roundabout and the Dundrum Road – the one-way system will be maintained for this work.

The major upgrade works on the N74 are scheduled to be complete in April next year.
