Former Tipperary TD Seamus Healy, based in Clonmel, is accusing General Election Candidates for the Government party of hypocrisy in respect of their calls for “fair play” and a “fair share” for South Tipperary.

Mr Healy, who plans to stand in the next General election asks what have they done for Tipperary in the last 13 years while in power adding that the government parties, and their candidates bound hand and foot to the party whip, cannot be trusted.

Mr Healy has set out four key demands and wants specific written guarantees from each party leader in advance of the election.  These include the reopening of St Brigid’s hospital in Carrick on Suir, the delivery of a new 20 bed in-patient mental health unit at Tipperary University Hospital, expansion of  the Jigsaw Youth Mental Health Service in the towns of Carrick-on-Suir, Clonmel and Tipperary Town, provision of school places for every child with a disability and  the provision of the Assessment of need service within the statutory timeline. The fourth issue relates to housing and Mr Healy is asking for a written commitment that “Within the first 100 days in office the next government will declare, in law, a housing emergency and will commence a massive construction of social and affordable houses by local authorities and approved housing bodies on state land.”

Mr Healy is to stand for the Dáil Election as a member of the Workers Unemployed Action Group(WUAG) a registered political Party.
