Two boil water notices have been issued for two public water schemes in county Tipperary.   Approximately 600 Uisce Eireann customers on the Horse and Jockey public supply are affected and approximately 4,000 customers of the company are affected by a Boil water notice on the Linguan Scheme serving the Carrick on Suir area.

Uisce Eireann says the boil water before use notice on the Horse and Jockey scheme is due to increased turbidity impacting the treatment processes at the water treatment plant. Turbidity refers to the level of unwanted particles in the water which can consist of silt or organic microorganisms.  Areas impacted include Horse and Jockey, Forgestown, Moycarkey, Curraheen, Ballymoreen, Drumgower, Newtown and surrounding areas.

The Boil Water Notice issued for customers supplied by Carrick on Suir (Linguan) Public Water Supply relates to a malfunction at the water treatment plant which is causing the drinking water quality entering the supply to be affected. Areas impacted include all customers on the Carrick on Suir (Linguan) Public Water Supply which includes North side of the River Suir as well as Friar Street Upper, Corpse Road, Rack Hill, South Quay and Bridge Street on the South side of the River Suir and surrounding areas. Some estates to the north of the river Suir in Carrick are not affected by the notice.

Customers in both areas can check if their property is included by visiting the Water Quality section of www.water.ie and entering the property’s Eircode or by calling the Uisce Éireann’s customer care helpline, open 24/7, on 1800 278 278.  Uisce Eireann says it is working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.

Customers in the Ardfinnan – Cahir east areas are without water at present due to overnight repair works at the Water Treatment Plant in Ardfinnan.  These works were due to be completed  by 5am and supply should return to the area between 8 and 9am this morning.
