Fine Gael To Select General Election Candidate For North Tipp On Sept 13th

Fine Gael is to hold it’s convention in Templemore on September 13th  to select a candidate for the North Tipperary constituency in the next General Election.

The North Tipperary constituency will return 3 TDs to the Dáil as due to population increase county Tipperary is being split into North and South for the general election and will return a total of 6 TDs.

Fine Gael councillor Phil Bugler from Ballina is to seek the nomination. Councillor Bugler has been a councillor in the Nenagh Municipal District for the Newport Local Electoral Area since 2004 and previously worked  in industry with De Beers Industrial Diamonds as a liaison engineer.

Ms Bugler has also been involved in the hospitality business in Killaloe and Ballina and is originally from Clonmore near Templemore. Ms Bugler served as County Tipperary Cathaoirleach in 2017/2018.  

There are 3 sitting TDs in North Tipperary and all are expected to contest the election Fianna Fáil’s Jackie Cahill, Labour’s Alan Kelly and Regional Independent TD Michael Lowry, a former Fine Gael TD.

The General Election is now expected to take place in November.
