Tipperary landowners are being reminded that hedge cutting season is underway.
The cutting of hedge / tree can be only carried out between September 1 to March 1 under the Wildlife Act legislation.
It is an offense, under Section 40 of the Wildlife Act 1976, to cut or destroy any vegetation growing in land not then cultivated, or vegetation growing in any hedge or ditch during the period March 1 to August 31st.
Fine Gael councillor Declan Burgess is asking landowners, farmers and householders to ensure that their roadside hedges are cut and maintained so that motorists, cyclists and pedestrians can travel safely on our rural roads in Tipperary.
Cllr Burgess who’s the current Cathaoirleach of Tipperary Council is also paying tribute to the majority of landowners who maintain their roadside hedges so well and urged others to be proactive over the next few months.
