A record number of Irish women are taking part in the upcoming Australian Football League women’s season. A total of 34 Irish players are involved including five from county Tipperary. TG4 have announced that the station will again broadcast weekly matches and highlights from the upcoming season.
The Tipperary players are employed by 4 different clubs – Orla O’Dwyer plays for Brisbane Lions, Aisling McCarthy for Freemantle, Niamh Martin for North Melbourne while Anna Rose Kennedy and Aisling Moloney play for Geelong Cats.The AFLW Competition begins this weekend with eighteen teams battling it out to see who will reach the Grand Final on November 30th.
