Local Schools Express Great Satisfaction With LC Results

Four local second level schools are expressing great satisfaction with the Leaving Certificate results released today.

Nationally a total of 60,839 students completed the examination available in two formats.

In Tipperary town it was a bittersweet day for St Anne’s Secondary School Principal John Cullinane as his term with the school will end on August 31st as he leaves to take up a new role in St Mary’s Nenagh.

The school had 40 students completing the Leaving Certificate this year. Mr Cullinane says he is delighted with the results which reflected the work of the students over the last two years.

Schools did not get advance printed copies of the student results this year but could print copies for students by accessing the results on the Student portal.

Ciaran O’Dwyer, Deputy Principal at St Ailbes reports that a total of 75 students completed the Leaving Certificate this year.

Mr O’Dwyer says the majority of the students came in to get their results and there was a very happy atmosphere as they met with classmates and teachers.

St Ailbes is very very pleased with the results across the board with a number of students awarded Distinctions in the Leaving Certificate Applied programme according to school management.

The Abbey School had a total of 54 students, including 11 on the Leaving Certificate Applied programme. Principal David Sadlier reports that he expects all of the students to progress to Further Education or Training Programmes in the coming weeks.

Close to 25% of the students secured over 500 points while close to 60% of the class gained over 400 points towards college places.

Mr Sadlier says the school team is delighted overall at the 2024 results.

Cashel Community School had 120 students on the Leaving Certificate programme.

Deputy principal Margaret Moore says they are ecstatic about this year’s results – 3 students secured the maximum points of 625, over 22% of the students secured over 500 points and 7% secured over 600 points.

Results in the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme were also excellent with more than 50% of students securing Distinctions.

Ms Moore says there is huge credit due to the students, their teachers and parents.
