The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys has today announced funding of €2.6 million to support the development of a wide range of Town Centre First projects. Two projects in county Tipperary are allocated funds – Roscrea is to receive €50,000 and Newport is set to benefit from €45,000. In Roscrea, the €50,000 will fund a design, costing and feasibility plan for the Glebe Park development. In Newport, the €45,000 is to be utilised to examine the development of a connection of the historic Ball Alley site with the town centre through the provision of a footbridge.

This funding is intended to assist local councils to create a pipeline of significant, well-developed projects in local towns across Ireland.  A total of 53 projects will be supported with up to €50,000 of funding per project. This funding will be used for detailed design, planning, procurement, professional fees, assessments and other development costs. Councils may have to seek other funding streams to deliver the projects.
