Tipperary woman Tara Brady will be on stage tonight at 2024 Rose of Tralee festival – the 12th of fourteen Roses being interviewed tonight. Tara from Ballina, is 23, and currently studying for her Master’s in Public History and Cultural Heritage at University of Limerick. Her escort in Tralee is James Mahon from Ballina in county Mayo.
Tara will be on stage tonight for the traditional interview with Kathryn Thomas and Daithi O’Shea. The winner will be announced tonight as the Rose selection process concludes and last year’s winner Roisin Wiley from New York will help to crown her successor.
“It has been the most fantastic experience so far”, according to Tara who describes being the Tipperary Rose of Tralee as “a celebration of cultural heritage and of Irish women”. The combination of her degree along with an ongoing internship with Mac Conmara Heritage Consultancy, in Killaloe, has helped Tara to find her niche in local heritage.
Tara also hopes to build on the success to date with her all-female Irish traditional band, Cailíní Lua, who recently appeared on The Ray D’arcy Show
