Tipperary county council have released details of the homes being offered this week to persons qualifying for social housing that have registered for the Choice Based Letting(CBL) model. Under this model – multiple persons are offered the chance to express interest in a home at the same time via a dedicated website. The model has succeeded in reducing the rate of refusals and in reducing the time it takes to allocate available homes.
The houses being offered this week are ten 3 bedroomed homes in Carrick on Suir, and one 2 bed and one 4 bed in Clonmel. Only persons approved for social housing and registered to use the CBL scheme can express interest. The Council is reminding intending applicants to fully complete the checkout process on the website and that a successful applicant who refuses a Choice Based Letting offer will not be eligible for consideration for another Choice Based Letting Unit for a period of one year. Due to the volume of interest in homes the council says only the successful candidates will be notified by post. Tipperary County Council is to deliver almost 900 new social homes up to 2026 via construction, purchase of turnkey developments and purchase of existing houses which in some cases may have a tenant in situ. Approximately 3,200 approved applicants are currently on the Social Housing list in the county.
