Tipperary Junior Camogie Team Win Premier Junior All Ireland

The Tipperary Junior Camogie team won the Premier Junior  All Ireland yesterday defeating Laois on a scoreline of Tipperary 12 points to Laois 1 – 8 points. Tipperary led by captain Sinead Maher from Kiladangan were four points down at half time and delivered a tremendous performance in the second half  to secure the victory. The team had a homecoming at the Anner Hotel in Thurles last night and will take the  Kay Mills Cup to Kiladangan this evening.  Team manager Bill Mullaney from Newport Ballinahinch  was delighted with the win after taking charge of the team in October 2023. 

The winning point came from a free in the 4th minute of added time when Jenny Grace from Burgess scored – in total Jenny scored 8 points from frees and contributed 9 points in total. Eva O’Dwyer(Eire Og Annacarty) with 2 points and Anna Fahie (Cashel King Cormacs) with one point completed the team scoring. Sophie Pembroke(Gortnahoe Glengoole) at centre back was selected as the Player of the Match.

The win was Tipperary Camogie’s first adult title since 2004 and came on the day that the Tipperary senior All Ireland Winning team from 1999(also won in 2000,2001,2003 and 2004) were honoured at Croke Park as the Silver Jubilee team.
