Tipperary Camogie is looking forward to major celebrations on Sunday in Croke Park with a win by the Junior Team hopefully the icing on the cake.
The Tipperary team managed by Bill Mullaney will take on Laois in the All Ireland Junior Final as part of a triple header with a 1.05pm throw in – Sinead Meagher of Kiladangan will captain the team that was defeated by Clare in the 2023 final.
Sunday will also see the magnificent Tipperary Senior Camogie team from 1999 honoured as the Silver Jubilee team at half time in the Senior Final(Cork v Galway ) which begins at 5.15pm.
Cork will face Kilkenny in the Intermediate Final at 3pm.
The 1999 Tipperary team was the first ever to win the O’Duffy cup for Tipperary as senior champions with Cashel’s Meadbh Stokes accepting the Cup and the team went on to win again in 2000 and 2001.
In all the team appeared in 8 Senior Finals in a row between 1999 and 2006 with two further All Ireland Senior titles in 2003 and 2004.
In addition 8 Tipperary camogie players will join all of the All Ireland winning captains in a special event on Sunday to mark 120 years of the Camogie Association – the former Tipperary winning captains attending will include – Triona Bonnar 1992 Junior Captain, Deirdre Hughes 1997 Intermediate, Meadbh Stokes 1999 Senior, Jovita Delaney 2000 Senior, Emly Hayden 2001 Senior, Trish O’Halloran 2001 Junior, Una O’Dwyer 2003 Senior and Joanne Ryan 2004 Senior.
