Tipperary Sinn Féin TD Martin Browne has been selected to contest the next general election for Sinn Fein in Tipperary South.

Deputy Browne was selected unopposed at the Party’s Selection convention in Tipperary town last night.  The Cashel based TD was first elected to the Dáil in 2020 in a wave of support nationwide for Sinn Fein with the party returning 37 seats.
Deputy Browne says he is both honoured and thrilled to be selected to contest the next General Election for Sinn Fein in Tipperary South. The next General Election in Tipperary will see a total of 6 TDs elected instead of the present 5 TDs and the county will be split into two constituencies North and South with each returning 3 TDs.  The general election must be held before the end of March 2025 with an Autumn election after the October 1st Budget expected by most analysts.

Deputy Browne says he is proud to work for communities across Tipperary previously as a Cashel Town Council and Tipperary County Council member and as TD since 2020.  The TD says the current government must be held to account for its failures on housing, disability services, health, Garda numbers, and community services.

The party has two councillors in South Tipperary, Cllr Anne Marie Ryan based in Tipperary town and Cllr David Dunne in Carrick on Suir. The only other sitting TD based in South Tipperary is Rural Independent Leader Mattie McGrath.
