Cllr Liam Browne is calling for public support for a four local girls that took part in the World Lyrical Dance Championships over the weekend in Dundee, Scotland. Overall 28 dancers from Tipperary took part and the four Cashel girls are to receive a special homecoming in Cashel at 6.30pm this evening which is being organised by Cllr Declan Burgess, Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council. The Cashel Brass and Reed Band will perform at this evenings event. Similar events are planned for Clonmel at a future date.
The Dancers are students at the On Your Toes Dance Academy run by Gilly Fitzgerald and Aoife McNamara with studios in Clonmel, Clerihan and Cashel.
The four Cashel Lyrical Dancers who train with On Your Toes Dance Academy – Clodagh O’Meara Ryan, Aideen Dooley, Ruby Buckley and Kate O’Dwyer were sponsored by John Ryan’s company Stove and Fire Place Fitters Ltd. The dancers won medals in a host of sections including U16 Jazz Lyrical World Champions and a world title in the over 16 World Group Dance Event.
Cllr Browne is looking forward to a great attendance to welcome home the world champions.
