Cashel Blue Cheese located near Ballinure outside Cashel is celebrating it’s latest success at the 2024 Great Taste awards. The iconic cheese is awarded the highest rating of 3 stars. 26 Irish food producers were given a 3-star rating at the most recent judging. A product produced by James Whelan Butchers in Clonmel – a Thick Cut Sharing Steak also secured the top rating – the only two from county Tipperary to secure 3 stars. 139 Irish food producers secured 2-stars while a further 415 were given 1-star rating. The Great Taste Awards are universally accepted as an award of true quality as the items are blind tasted by the judges.
For Cashel Blue Cheese – a family business established in 1985 by the Grubb family, there was further recognition of the quality of their product as it has been nominated for a Golden Fork at the Great Taste Awards. The results for this award will be announced on 10th September. Only 30 products out of 13,672 entries from 115 countries are nominated for the Golden Fork Award.
