Tipperary Town To Mark 300 Days Of Genocide In Gaza With A March

601
Market Yard, Tipperary

Tipperary town is to host a gathering and short march on Saturday August 3rd to mark 300 Days of Genocide in Gaza.
The event is being organised by two local women – Dolores Mulcahy and Josephine Carroll in collaboration with the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign with Dean McGrath, the chair of the South Tipperary Branch also taking part in the event which is scheduled to begin at 2pm.

The gathering will begin at the Market Yard and make a short march along Main Street turning right onto Davis Street and then onto Mitchel Street to return to the Market Yard.

Ms Carroll says the violence, death and destruction in Gaza is horrific and that she finds the exposure of innocent children to such trauma deeply upsetting. The Tipperary woman says public pressure can make a difference in leading to a ceasefire and long term settlement to the conflict in the Middle East. Ms Carroll called on the general public to consider boycotting goods produced in Israel, to share coverage of the conflict on social media tagging local public representatives and also called on the Irish Government to do more –  such as implementing the Occupied Territories Bill, the illegal Israeli Settlements Divestment Bill and to also cut Diplomatic links with Israel.    The legislation would make it illegal to sell in Ireland goods produced in the Palestinian lands occupied by  the Israelis and also prevent the National Treasury Management Agency from investing in businesses operating in the occupied territories.
