16 Tipperary Organisations & Clubs Allocated €987,845 Under 2024 Community Recognition Fund.

16 organisations and clubs in Tipperary have been allocated a total of  €987,845  under the  2024 Community Recognition  Fund.  Nationally a total of €16M is being allocated to 185 Community Projects. The Government is making the funding available to support communities that have seen increased demand for social and recreation services due to the arrival of refugees from Ukraine or persons seeking asylum – the Tipperary total is based pro rata on the number of additional people being accommodated in the county.  Tipperary County Council invited applications for the fund earlier this year.

In Tipperary town Rosanna Tennis club is allocated €56,200, for resurfacing of courts, Coláiste Iascaigh in Cahir is allocated almost €60,000 for a new surface on the astro turf pitch.  In Littleton, the Muintir na Tire hall is allocated €50,000 for new windows and a disability access toilet, Thurles Rugby Football Club is allocated €62,000 for drainage works, Durlas Og GAA club is allocated  €57,000 for a walkway,  Thurles Lions Trust secured €60,000 for the Community Garden at Matthew Bourke House,  Fethard Town Park gets €50,000 for upgrade work  to the car park.  

Clubs in Carrick on Suir, Nenagh, Borrisokane and Roscrea, also received funding allocations totaling €493,000 including an allocation of  €105,000 to Roscrea scout hall – the highest individual amount, €50,000 to Muintir na Tire in Roscrea , €50,000 to Roscrea Golf club and €69,000 to Roscrea RFC.  St Mary’s Choral Society is allocated €50,000 for refurbishment works to the White Memorial Theatre in Clonmel while St Mary’s community Hall in Killenaule secured €50,000 for upgrade works to the outdoor area.

The funding allocation has been welcomed by Tipperary TDs Jackie Cahill and Michael Lowry.
