Disability Rights Campaigner Cara Darmody is to further intensify her campaign to ensure the Government delivers improved services.

At a well-attended rally yesterday outside the Taoiseach’s office  Ms Darmody expressed disappointment that after official meetings with 3 Taoiseachs over the last two years the situation has not improved and families continue to experience long waits for assessment of need which should legally be provided no later than 6 months after being requested.

The teenager outlined the failings in the provision of services including the lack of personal assistants, poor adherence to UN Convention of the rights of persons with disabilities and particularly the provision of Assessments, Services, Supports and School-places.

Ms Darmody is now planning a monster meeting at Dáil Eireann in September, possibly on September 19th, to further highlight the need for Government action to deliver  improved services.
