A public meeting is to be held in Dundrum Community Hall on Friday (August 2nd) to discuss the outcome of a legal action in the High Court this week. The group in Dundrum leading the opposition to the use of Dundrum House Hotel Complex as an Accommodation Centre for Asylum seekers presented over 300 affidavits to the High Court on Monday in seeking an emergency ex parte injunction to prevent the Government from going ahead with the Centre with the property owner’s consent. Judge Holland refused the application but did give consent for a future court action that would also include the Government’s legal team.
The meeting on Friday night is set for 7.30pm and those attending will hear from the legal representatives supporting the group and Patrick McGreal from county Westmeath who is also taking legal cations on the grounds that he believes the Government is denying people their constitutional and planning legislation protections by the manner in which it is creating IPAS centres across the country.
