Fr Egan Of Boherlahan Dualla Parish To Retire After 51 Years of Ministry

Fr Joe Egan, of Boherlahan Dualla parish is to retire in early September after 51 years of Ministry.

The announcement was made by Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly as he confirmed that the shortage of priests is likely to continue into the future with only one candidate for ordination this year.

The Bishop does acknowledge a willingness on members of the lay community to undertake extra work to assist priests.

Fr Egan will continue to provide support to Fr Celsus Tierney the Moderator of the Pastoral combination of Upperchurch and Drombane, Clonoulty Rossmore, Holycross Ballycahill and Boherlahan Dualla.

Fr Tierney will become the Administrator for Boherlahan Dualla Parish.

Fr Bernie Moloney, Emly, will become an Apostolic Prefect(AP)  to the wider combined  area of  Emly, Lattin,  Cullen Pallasgreen, Templebraden,  Kilteely and Dromkeen.

Fr Michael Kennedy will be the Administrator of the parish of Emly.

Fr Joseph Walsh will become PP of Donohill and Annacarty and also become an AP and offer assistance to Arch Deacon Eugene Everard in the Tipperary, Bansha, Kilmoyler, Sologhead, Oola, Annacarty and Donohill pastoral combination.

Reverend Killian Heney who was ordained this year will serve as Deacon in Tipperary Town parish.

These and other changes will come into effect in the Diocese of Cashel and Emly  over the weekend of  September 7th and 8th.
