Bronze Medal For Double Skulls Rowing Team At The Paris Olympics

There was further success for Ireland at the Paris Olympic earlier today when Daire Lynch and Philp Doyle won a Bronze Medal for third place in the double sculls rowing event.   A huge crowd gathered in Clonmel to cheer home Daire Lynch a member of Clonmel Rowing Club and his team mate Philp Doyle from County Down. The gold medal went to Romania with Holland taking the silver.  The Bronze medal comes exactly 92 years to the day since Dr Pat O’Callaghan, from Clonmel won Gold for the Hammer Throw at the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles

Ireland’s Men’s Golfers  are in action today for the first of four rounds of golf with no player eliminated after day two as is normal in most golf competitions.  Shane Lowry and Rory McElroy are medal contenders for team and individual success at the 2024 Olympics as are the women’s team of Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow – the women’s event will begin on August 7th. .
