Clanwilliam Rugby Club, Tipperary town,  have paid tribute to Lattin woman Amee Leigh Murphy Crowe as the Irish Women’s Rugby 7’s team concluded their run at the Paris Olympics yesterday losing  their final match to Great Britain 28 points to 12  to finish ranked 8th in the competition.

In a post on social media Clanwilliam says  “the whole country is phenomenally proud of this team. And rightly so.”

It was the first time that Ireland qualified for the tournament and Amee Leigh  has the honour of being the first Irish woman to score a try at the Olympics. Amee Leigh  took over the captaincy for 4 of the 6 matches and scored  3 tries over the course of the tournament.

The post ends by calling Amee Leigh the Pride of Tipperary and looks forward to seeing Amy, who first played rugby at the historic club founded in 1879,  at the club grounds in the near future.
