Public Consultation Launched Regarding Canon Hayes Recreation Centre & Sean Treacy Memorial Swimming Pool

A major public consultation about the operation and future of the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre(CHRC) and the Sean Treacy Memorial Swimming pool in Tipperary town has been launched today by the boards of management at both Tipperary town amenities. The consultation will take the form of two different surveys aimed at individual users and clubs.  It is also hoped that people interested in the amenities or aware of barriers to access or potential benefits that can be released will share their views. In addition, Raymond Bourke of RB Consulting will meet with clubs and organisations that use the facilities.

The intention is to use the feedback from users and non-users of the two adjacent facilities that are physically linked internally to develop a strategic plan for the future of both facilities.

Tipperary Revitalisation Task Force and Tipperary County Council are involved with the aim of ensuring that the town is served with state of the art sporting and recreation facilities into the future.  A business plan will be developed to help access funding streams to upgrade the facilities. Board Member at the CHRC, Brian English says all ideas and feedback is welcome with the creation of a small coffee dock space one idea already under consideration.

The survey will close on August 22nd. The form, with 18 questions for clubs and 30 questions for individuals, can be found in both facilities and in the Tipperary Community Services Centre building on St Michael’s Street. The survey is also available online at this link here  and it is also hoped that the display of a QR code that allows access to the survey online will be promoted by local businesses to their customers as the two amenities can be an attraction to bring increased footfall into Tipperary town.
