Fresh Calls For EGM To Appoint New Committee To Tipp Town Chamber Of Commerce

There have been fresh calls for an EGM to be held to appoint a new committee to the Tipperary Town Chamber of Commerce.

It is understood that only two of the committee elected in 2020 continue to be involved.

These two members had indicated in late March that an AGM would be held in approximately late May or early June – no AGM has been held since 2020.

The remaining two officers say they want to finalise all documents and financial data before holding an AGM and are happy to step aside at that time for a new committee to take over with a clear understanding of the situation.

In correspondence seen by TMWR local businessman Shane Corby is calling for an EGM.

Mr Corby says the Chamber should be leading the celebration of Tipperary’s representation at the Olympics while he also expresses concerns about the retail environment in Tipperary town.

Mr Corby is seeking support from local business owners and operators for a new committee to enable the Tipperary Town Chamber to get back on an “even keel” and celebrate the great achievements of local Olympians and drive new investment in the town.

It is understood that some local businesses may opt to become members of the County Tipperary Chamber which is a county wide organisation with four full time staff headquartered in Clonmel.
