Representatives of the Dundrum Community opposing the creation of an IPAS centre at the Dundrum House Hotel complex will return to the High Court tomorrow for further hearings.
Yesterday the group presented 300 affidavits to outline the reasons why people are opposed to the government’s plan and outlining why they feel the government is infringing on individual’s constitutional rights and breaching planning law in the manner in which it secures accommodation for asylum seekers and refugees.
The group in Dundrum are attempting to join an ongoing case taken by Pat McGreal from County Westmeath.
The Government announced plans on May 29th to create an IPAS Accommodation Centre for Asylum seekers at the west Tipperary complex.
The Department of Integration has indicated that in time the centre could become a dedicated Asylum Accommodation centre.
The group in Dundrum have maintained a peaceful protest at the Gates of the Hotel since May 29th.
The Dundrum facility has been providing accommodation for Refugees from Ukraine since 2022. The centre has a maximum capacity of 277 according to the Department.
