Tipperary’s Amee Leigh Murphy Crowe Scores First Try For Ireland In Women’s 7s Rugby At Paris Olympics

Tipperary woman Amee Leigh Murphy Crowe made history yesterday in scoring the first ever try for Ireland in Women’s 7s rugby at the Paris Olympics. The Irish team lost to Great Britain in their first pool game on a scoreline of Ireland 12 Great Britain 21  and later defeated South African on a scoreline of Ireland 38 to South Africa 0. 

Amee Leigh scored a total of three tries over the two games. Ireland’s final pool game is against tournament favorites Australia at 1pm today with qualification for the quarter finals still a possibility. Clonmel Rower Daire Lynch has also progressed in his event.  Several other Irish athletes  will compete today including Mona McSharry  in the final of the 100m Breaststroke tonight while Kellie Harrington will box at 2.45pm.
