A public meeting is being called for tonight in Dundrum as the campaign group opposing the creation of an IPAS centre in the Dundrum House Hotel Complex wants to update the community on a development.
The group have been exploring a number of avenues to find a means to block the government plan for an accommodation centre for asylum seekers in Dundrum and say there has been a development regarding a legal issue.
The government initially announced plans for a hybrid facility in May where it was proposed that the Hotel complex would accommodate refugees from Ukraine and asylum seekers from multiple other countries.
The Department’s latest update is that the complex could become a dedicated centre for asylum seekers only.
In a further development today over 20 local businesses in West Tipperary village say they will withhold payment of their rates in protest at the Government plan.
The meeting will be held in the Community Centre in Dundrum and will start at 7.30pm this evening.
