€750,000 Grant Assistance Awarded To 25 Tipperary Projects Under The Community Climate Action Fund

Tipperary County Council has received approval from the Minister of the Environment, Climate & Communications to provide €750,000 grant assistance to 25 projects in the county under the terms of the Community Climate Action Fund. 

Cllr. Declan Burgess, Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council today confirmed that in total 82 applications were received for the fund in it’s first year of operation.  The highest single allocation in the county was €90,178 for Loughtagalla Biodiversity park in Thurles.  The lowest grant was  €756 to Clogheen Tidy Towns group.

In west Tipperary successful projects include Burncourt Community Council €20,000 Knockanrawley Resource Centre €24,771 for the community garden,  Canon Hayes Recreation  Centre  €14,092, Clanwilliam Rugby Club €11, 112, Rockwell Rovers €28,000 and Eire Og Annacarty €30,000 – the four beneficiaries are to use the funding for energy upgrades at their facilities. Boher Community Development is allocated €40,512 for biodiversity measures.

The Community Climate Action Officer for Tipperary County Council Marie O’Donnell says that she looks forward to engaging further with the successful groups as they enter in to the contracting stage of their respective project and is also looking forward to working with groups that were unsuccessful on this occasion to assist them with applications for the next tranche of funding.
